If an issue harmfully impacts an area, how do you connect local community and organizations in support of a cause?  Identifying community as a target audience and looking at real world impact, I proposed Action App as a platform for connection.

How can a community organize quickly?  To create change, communities need a platform to allow neighbors, organizations, and non-profits to work together.  Action App connects communities to local causes.

The eight week project plan covered desk research to user testing, including field research, going to a local historic site threatened by

a proposed landfill, and talking to an attorney for a non-profit (SELC) to better understand community response to a harmful impact.

Risk analysis, stakeholder analysis, Lean UX, field research, and looking

at existing apps through competitive analysis led to a better understanding

of how Action App could be valuable to communities and organizations.

Risk Analysis

  • Existing apps don't offer a way to connect various groups

  • Action app provides connection to a local network

  • Volunteers and organizations can share goals and action steps

  • Community organization is successful

  • Organizing creates positive change, a cleaner environment and thriving neighborhoods

"We are an organization that seeks to protect and preserve the legacy of the rural Pine Grove School"

"Michigan has strengthened its water testing, setting a higher standard than the federal minimum"

"Residents of Anniston (Alabama) won a $700m settlement from Monsanto"

From research, concept to features, my design proposal resulted in Action App, a comprehensive product to support communities to grow and create measurable change.
